Shabbos Lights

The mitzvah of kindling lights is usually performed by the woman of the house.

The lights honor Shabbos by brightening, and thereby imparting dignity and importance to the festive meal (Rashi).
It is customary to recite Yahee Ratzone after kindling the lights.
This prayer stresses the supplication that the children of the home grow up learned and righteous.
The prayer asks for continued blessings on your family in the merits of our matriarchs.
